The Blackbird Clara is a compact concert ukulele with a voice that rivals a larger tenor. Every detail was engineered to provide unmatched projection and dynamics. Built San Francisco, the Clara ukulele is crafted from ekoa®-a biobased linen composite structurally superior to the gold-standard: vintage, old-growth wood. Clara's 'double top' soundboard is highly consistent unlike wood and tuned for the ideal rigidity and density with minimal bracing. The exceptional tone is nuanced and complex because ekoa® is a natural material. A hollow neck resonance chamber enhances projection and sustain. The one-piece body/neck/head composite construction is rugged and weather stable offering a worry-free ownership experience.

I received my Blackbird Clara yesterday and I wanted to let you know I am beyond impressed with it! I never had the opportunity to see, touch, or hear a Clara in person before purchasing it, but I took a chance on it because of the relatively sturdy and care-free eKoa material (I live in a desert climate so this is important to me) and the great reviews it has received and sound samples I was able to listen to online. I was expecting a very high-quality instrument that sounded beautiful. Well, it's one thing to have a vague notion of what that would be, and quite another to actually experience it! It opened my eyes to what a truly high-quality instrument is. The craftsmanship is beautiful. One of the first things I noticed was how beautifully resonant it is; I could feel the vibrations in my torso! The power and sustain is amazing too. And it does indeed sound so very beautiful. And I find it so easy to play! I feel I've finally found my ukulele "home".

I am playing Clara as my main instrument. I have several ukuleles that cost more and I've had high end models from all the top brands, Kamaka, KoAloha, Martin, etc. The Clara is the best playing and best sounding concert uke I have ever owned, played, or heard.

The Clara is super easy to play, and it makes for a truly fun playing experience. I've had two or three late night sessions of playing the Clara (especially standing up and using a strap) that have been an absolute blast! As far as tone, I have no complaints at all about the Clara. It sounds great and has great sustain.
